Dear Senator Reid,
I can understand why you didn’t want to pass the original version of the House of Representatives’ continuing resolution (CR) with it’s provision to defund the Affordable Care Act (ACA). But the latest version, with a provision to delay the ACA for one year should be receiving your enthusiastic support.
The roll-out of the ACA has been rife with problems. The House has given you a gift with the suggestion of a delay. At the end of a year, hopefully all the glitches would be fixed and, with many of the exemptions expiring, the whole system could be implemented at once.
Now is the time for you to look gracious. You could say you agree with the delay because fixing the current online exchange problems would make a smoother transition for the American people. There are so many ways you could turn this into a PR bonanza for the Democrats.
Please do not be the cause of a government shutdown. Pass the House version of the CR before the Senate right now.
