Game Over for Santorum

It was no surprise that Rick Santorum announced today that he is suspending his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination. After the last group of primaries, it was just a question of when he would drop out of the race. Mitt Romney has been steadily increasing his lead in delegates and has almost unlimited money, compared to the relative shoestring budgets of Santorum and Newt Gingrich.

I doubt Santorum could have won the Presidential election had he become the nominee. But he brought important issues into the election discussion, often highlighting details everyone else seemed to be ignoring. I hope he will continue to speak about important social and federal budget issues throughout the general election campaign.
